About the role

Our client, a  thriving financial planning firm is looking for an organised and competent Paraplanner to join their busy team.  

Your role as a Paraplanner will be to support the Financial Planner and Service Delivery Team to ensure they deliver high quality service and advice to clients. The role involves developing your technical and analytical skills to prepare reports, research products and work closely with the rest of the team to provide clients with a professional and seamless customer experience. 

What you’ll be doing

Paraplanning Skills

  • Completing qualitative and quantitative analysis of client’s existing products to determine whether they meet the client’s current needs and objectives.
  • Preparing financial plans.
  • Researching suitable product recommendations to meet client’s objectives.
  • Writing suitability reports.
  • Maintaining records to support any research undertaken and carrying out all tasks in a manner that is consistent with compliance procedures.

Managing Client Relationships and Delivery of Advice

  • Supporting the Financial Planner in preparing solutions to present to clients and keeping them informed of any client queries.
  • Keeping clients up to date and ensure that completion of reports and advice is delivered timely and accurately.
  • Organising the implementation process of new clients using a variety of IT systems and investment platforms.
  • Arrange for completion of any relevant application forms, submitting paperwork to providers, , executing fund switches, top ups, withdrawals and inter-plan transfers.
  • Keeping up to date with the industry and the range of products and services offered.

Administration of Reports, Forms and Files

  • Managing team workloads, overseeing record keeping, advice delivery and dealing with internal and external parties.
  • A sound knowledge of the Annual Review process.
  • Producing illustrations, gathering documentation and completing product, plan and fund research.
  • Understanding compliance file checking including life cycles, fact finds, record keeping, client risk profiles and client due diligence.
  • Taking ownership and accountability of making sure client data and information is correct.

You must be highly organised and have the capability to plan and prioritise assignments in a busy environment. A flexible and adaptable attitude towards work is essential.  You will be an effective link between the client and their Financial Planner, hence excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills are essential. You will have the ability to communicate advice in a clear and concise manner and carry out the required technical research and analysis to support your report writing.

  • The ability to undertake detailed quantitative and qualitative research on all products, identifying where more in-depth analysis and questioning of providers is required to obtain information that may affect any recommendations.

Desirable Qualification or Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in a similar role within a financial planning firm or related organisation.
  • Level 4 Certificate in Paraplanning
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
